The first week of school is almost here, and with it comes a mix of excitement, anticipation, and maybe a few nervous feelings for children and parents alike!

As you prepare to bring your child to HFYH, remember that starting school is a big step for little hearts. New teachers, new friends, new routines, and a new environment can take time to feel familiar. Some children will walk through the doors without looking back, while others may need a few extra hugs and reassurance. Both are completely normal.
One of the best ways you can help is by keeping goodbyes loving, confident, and brief. Let your child know you trust their teachers, remind them that you will be back, and allow our staff to help them settle into their day. Even when there are tears at the door, children often begin playing and engaging shortly after their grown-up leaves.

You may also notice some extra tiredness, clinginess, or big emotions at home during those first few weeks. School requires a lot of energy! Give them time to rest, reconnect, and adjust as they build stamina for their new routine.
And parents, give yourselves a little grace too. Whether this is your child’s very first school experience or their final year with us before Kindergarten, dropping them off can feel big.
Soon, unfamiliar classrooms will become favorite places, new faces will become friends, and those first-day nerves will give way to confidence and independence.

We cannot wait to welcome your children through our doors and begin another year of learning, friendship, faith, and fun together.
Here’s to a wonderful first week at Home For Your Heart School!
